Sunken Network System, 1990
Fillmore Center and Redevelopment Corporation for the City of San Francisco CA

Sunken Network System was part of a redevelopment program in San Francisco's Fillmore District, located in the middle of a subsidized building complex. The plaza was laid out like a cartographic system , a connective organism which linked the development to the surrounding community. Imbedded in the site were two sets of access routes, one being water troughs the other ,walkways. Superimposed onto this scheme were bench/slab structures designed to designate private space within the public space of access. The water troughs contained a built-in lighting system to illuminate and shift the orientation of the site by night.
